Motorola Moto X+1 Release Date Leaked: Smartphone Launches Sept. 25 Along With Moto 360

Motorola Moto X+1 Release Date Leaked: Smartphone Launches Sept. 25 Along With Moto 360

Release of Motorola's newest flagship Moto X+1 has been finally confirmed for a Sept. 25 release date with Verizon Wireless, according to reports.

"Sources of ours have confirmed to us that Verizon is currently expecting the new Moto X by September 25," an insider told iDigitalTimes.com.

Furthermore, according to a Droid Life report, the much-awaited next-gen smartphone from Motorola is said to be released together with the Moto 360 smartwatch. The handset could arrive sooner on "other carriers" before Verizon, though the unveiling dates wouldn't be that different at all.

Leaks of the new Moto specs indicated that it will arrive with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 clocked at 2.45 GHz, which indicates that the unit's capacity could come toe to toe with other current flagships like Samsung Galaxy S5, OnePlus One, HTC One M8 and LG G3.

The Moto X+1 includes a 5.1-inch display in 1080p, 2GB of RAM and 32GB Internal memory.

The device is said to also house a 12 MP rear camera, a 5MP front snapper, and a 2900mAh li-ion battery. It comes with Android KitKat 4.4.4 OS out of the box.

Though Moto X+1's predecessor, the Moto X, already comes with powerful features like touchless controls and refined voice activation, the upcoming device can still make a name for its own given the specs that are mentioned above.

Surprisingly, Motorola has been silent about the Moto X+1 release date and still has yet to make an official statement about their latest handset.

Motorola XT1097 aka Moto X+1 does Geekbench

The Motorola Moto XT1097, what is thought to be the Moto X+1, has been caught out in the open again. This time it was spotted in the Geekbench database, which reports Android 4.4.4 KitKat and Qualcomm 8974AC Snapdragon 801.
The chipset features four Krait 400 cores at 2.45GHz, Adreno 330 and 2GB of RAM, confirming the report from AnTuTu that leaked earlier.

The AnTuTu benchmark was done on Android 4.4.3 however. That benchmark result and additional rumors claim a 5.1-5.2" screen with 1080p screen, 12MP camera with an unusual dual-LED flash and a 2,900mAh battery. It will have a selection of wood backs too.
There's a successor to the Moto G visiting benchmarks too, that one aims lower with a 5" 720p screen and a Snapdragon 400 chipset. It bears the XT1063 model number.

The oft-leaked but not so far announced Moto X+1 now gets a rumored release date. According to some unnamed sources, it should land at Verizon "by September 25".
Motorola has previously told us to expect the successor to the original Moto X to arrive in "late summer", and this is close enough - as summer officially ends on September 22. And the "by" in the release wording above could potentially mean that it might be out a little while before September 25 too.
And let's not forget that other carriers are expected to sell the Moto X+1 as well, so one of those may have it for sale before Verizon manages to.

There's nothing new to report on the front of a release date for the Moto 360 smartwatch, though. Obviously it could be launched alongside the Moto X+1, but this rumor doesn't say anything about that.
Yesterday we saw the Moto X+1 getting benchmarked, and having its Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset (with a 2.5 GHz quad-core CPU) confirmed along with 2GB of RAM.
Earlier reports and different mumblings also had it coming with a 5.1" or 5.2" touchscreen with 1080p resolution, a 12 MP rear camera, and a 2900 mAh battery.
